A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an better service.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
